As part of our connector 'Flavour' we tasted different French cheeses. We thought some of them were very tasy but some were a bit smelly! Which cheese is your favourite?

Have a look at the bookworm on the bridge link to find out the other class's favourite books.

In Maths we had to weigh different parcels to find out how heavy they were. We had to read the scales carefully and work together. We recorded our results. The lightest parcel was 150g and the heaviest parcel was over 2000g (2kg)! What do you think could be inside the parcels?

Our new connector this half term is Letters! We read the story Flat Stanley and enjoyed the part where Stanley got sent in the post to California. We have swapped letters and flat versions of ourselves with a school in Cornwall. We are looking forward to writing about what we get up to!

Sun, 09 Oct 2011 10:07:00 -0700 Samuel Pepys diary entries http://staidansyear2.posterous.com/samuel-pepys-diary-entries http://staidansyear2.posterous.com/samuel-pepys-diary-entries

After reading and listening to extracts from Samuel Pepys' diary, we wrote our own diary entries about the Great Fire of London. We made sure to include facts and feelings and we tried to use all our senses when writing descriptions. We wrote our diaries on coffee-stained paper to make them look old! Here are some pictures of our work on display.

Wed, 05 Oct 2011 08:33:00 -0700 Making Fire of London cakes http://staidansyear2.posterous.com/cooking http://staidansyear2.posterous.com/cooking

Our connector this half term is Fire.

We had fun making small cakes. These cakes were eaten in 1666 and might have been what Thomas Farriner was baking when he forgot to put out his oven and started the Great Fire of London!

We had to weigh the ingredients carefully using the scales and then mix everything together in the bowl. After that we cooked them in the oven and finally ate them. They tasted delicious!

Thu, 15 Sep 2011 09:06:00 -0700 Counting http://staidansyear2.posterous.com/counting http://staidansyear2.posterous.com/counting

We had to find out how many shells there were. We worked in our group to decide how to count them. We tried putting the shells in a line, moving the shells we have counted into a different pile and grouping the shells. Everyone agreed that counting the shells in groups of two or five was a good way to count more quickly. Try counting some more sets of objects at home!
